There are a few settings you can change in preferences including: Once installed an icon is added to your OS X menubar, click it once and nosleep is activated and you can close the lid knowing that your laptop will not go into sleep mode.
There is an easy fix with an app called NoSleep which consists of kext and userspace tools that help to manage sleep behaviour on your MacBook. Closing the lid means that the Plex Media Center goes to sleep so Plex will stop casting to my TV Screen. For me I like to close the lid when I am going to cast something to Chromecast from Plex. There are often ties when you may not want this happen. Afterwards, I can close the lid and so on, every day. When nothing happens, I have to open the lid, and then the computer turns on.
